All my life, I’ve been most comfortable with a pen in hand. I was the student who weirdly enjoyed the timed, hand-written essays and the adult who abnormally still finds joy in filling out paperwork. My parents will tell you that from an unusually young age I drew rows and rows of precise lines and controlled loops across dozens of sheets of paper. I’m an avid notetaker and planner, and I’ve been given the unofficial title of “scribe” on more than one occasion. The callous on the top knuckle of my ring finger is a permanent fixture on my right hand and has been for as long as I can remember.
“As long as I can remember” also describes my relationship with design and lettering. I love layout and making content look and communicate better. I jump at the opportunity to letter envelopes, invitations, signs, and any of the little things my friends and family members hand me.
I knew by the time I was a fifth grader that I wanted to be a graphic designer. As much as I prioritized performing well in core subjects, I always wanted an artistic or computer-related course in my academic schedule.
In 2016, I graduated from Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in graphic design and a minor in journalism and mass communications, emphasis in public relations. A week after graduation, I started working as a graphic designer with the wonderful people at The Creative Department, Inc., in Kansas City, Missouri.
A few months after starting my first job, I married my high school sweetheart, Chase. We have two dogs, Mosby and Watson, who are the cutest good boys (we’re not biased). We love our church community and lead a life group with other couples who regularly help us grow in faith, love, and character.
